1. Who We Are

Kipik is developed and maintained by AIRMELON, a company under French jurisdiction. We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Information We Collect

We collect two types of data:

a. Personal Data (only with consent)

• Email address
• Username
• Plant names, room names
• Journal entries (health status, watering, etc.)
• Uploaded plant photos (only stored on the device unless used for identification)
• Analytics data if enabled
• Plant care logs (watering, fertilization, health tracking)

b. Non-Personal or Anonymized Data

• App usage data (features used, interactions, device type)
• Anonymized data is still used for analysis even without consent

3. Data Sources and Permissions

• Camera Access: Required for plant identification and photo logging.
• Photo Gallery Access: Used for storing visual history, never uploaded to our servers.
• Analytics (optional): If enabled, events including user and plant names may be collected.

4. Why We Collect Your Data

We use your data to:

• Provide and improve plant care features
• Offer personalized reminders and recommendations
• Analyze how users interact with the app (via PostHog)
• Respond to customer support and deletion requests

We do not sell any personal data.

5. Data Storage and Processing

• All data is stored securely on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Plant identification images are temporarily processed by our servers but not retained.
• Analytics data is shared with PostHog for internal analysis purposes only.

6. Your Rights

As a user under GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access and review your personal data
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Withdraw consent for analytics or communications

7. Data Retention

• Free users' data is retained on-device unless deleted by the user.
• Account data is retained until the user deletes the account or requests deletion.

8. Children's Privacy

Kipik does not have age restrictions, but it is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 without parental consent.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be notified via the app or email (if available).
